700r4 behind 454?

Question:

The stock 6.2L 700R4 tranny will bolt up to the 454 but shift points are wrong and if you plan to use the truck as a 1 ton for towing it wont last very long.  Look up Jet performance on the internet.  They make a modified and improved version of the 700R4 that is rated for higher HP.  If that still does not look good enough consider going to a 4L80E (overdrive computer controlled) or TH400.  Jet performance should also sell a kit to install the 4L80E in your truck. Response:

I’m putting a 454 in my 89 1 ton and wondering if the 700r4 i have will work with it.  The trans was hooked to a 6.2L diesel originally and i’m wondering if there are any differences between the gasoline and diesel transmissions. I assume i will have to use a higher stall speed torque converter than the diesel one. Or is this transmission just too puny to put behind a 454 anyway? Thanks -Andrew
